At peace

Along the shore near Kep crab market
There's nothing more peaceful and relaxing in my book than spending time at the seaside. Whether the sea is like a millpond or if there's a storm brewing and the waves are crashing into the shoreline, the sea holds a great fascination and attraction for me. In Cambodia, its the south coast or nothing as far as shoreline is concerned and here's just a few photos to remind me of some precious moments. Perhaps in my dotage I will retire to the seaside, we shall see (or should that be sea). In the meantime, I'm very happy today as my doctor has given me a clean bill of health and my blood tests say I'm in perfect shape after a couple of months of suffering with a dermatitis skin reaction. It was pretty awful at one stage so I'm glad it's now behind me. I hope you weren't eating when you read this...
Sunset in Kep from the shoreline in front of my guesthouse
Okay, so its not the sea (well it is, in the distance) but lovely and peaceful nonetheless, at Phnom Sorsia
Back to the sea views, this one from my balcony at Kep Seaside guesthouse
Empty sandy beaches are the order of the day in Cambodia, this one is Koh Sompouch beach in Ream

These images perfectly suit the idea I had had of the Cambodian shoreline upon reading Joseph Conrad's THE SECRET SHARER, a little masterpiece set there and in Koh Tang. Have you been in Koh Tang too? Thanks for sharing /// Leon

Andy, thanks for bringing to my attention your many pictures of your recent visit to Cambodia's sea coast areas. I noted many beautiful pictures from coastal Cambodia. They all look unsurreal, so magical, if I were to see them on a wall at a hotel somewhere, I would think they are unreal; I mean the colorful sunet, the colorful sky, the deep blue waters, the greeneries, etc... Are they real? Unbelievable!

Yes, Cambodia is very beautiful, once you've discover it. I once show a postcard from Cambodia (it was a picture of Angkor Wat with the rise in the background) to a friend, and he wouldn't believe it was Cambodia. It looks more like an artist recreation than the real thing. Now I really believe it when you showed them here. Thanks!

Hi Leon,
I've not read that book or visited Koh Tang yet, though my brother went to the area surrounding the island for some underwater diving and said it was very nice. There are a lot of small islands in the Gulf of Thailand that belong to Cambodia, many of them would fit the vision of a deserted paradise I'm sure.

I have a lot more pictures to post, I've just been a bit busy with lots of other stuff recently. The photos are definitely real and straight from my camera without any help from photoshop. Cambodia is a beautiful country with many different aspects to it. I recommend all of you that haven't been here, pay a visit and experience the diversity for yourself. You will never forget your visit.
Andy
