Intrigue at Olympic
This afternoon at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, the 2nd week series of games will be played in the new Cambodia Premier League, with 2 games that will give fans a good indication of how well their favorite teams will fare this season. At 2pm Phnom Penh Crown will begin the defense of their league title against Naga Corp, whom they beat in the Hun Sen Cup Final recently. On a high after their Singapore Cup win earlier this week, Crown are the favourites to recapture their title this season. At 3.45pm, the second game of the day will be between National Defense Ministry (who have suspended 5 of their best players for alleged irregularities including national players Khim Borey and Samreth Seiha) and Preah Khan Reach, who won 3-0 last weekend, and who have national coach Prak Sovannara in charge of coaching duties this season. Another intriguing game. All games in the CPL will be played at the Olympic Stadium this season. 9 out of the 10 teams are based in PPenh, so I'm not really sure how teams develop their fan base, that's if they have a fan base at all. Without a home ground, it must be hard for the fans to have a die-hard affinity to any team, as they do in say London where teams like Arsenal or Spurs developed their fan base from fans who came from the locality of their home ground. But hey what do I know. I was a die-hard fan of my hometown team Cheltenham Town before I switched allegiances to Kidderminster Harriers, and the rest, as they say, is history. It was a real pleasure to meet you today. See you soon and thanks for your blog.
Simon
I am your regular reader, a 2-time traveller to Cambodia and am seriously thinking about atrting a blog myself (nothing to do with Cambodia). There's one point that always arouse my curiosity, and its feedback from readers. How would you rate contributions from yr readers? Do you feel there's a real interaction with them? Cd you single out some personalities (or personages) from among the people who regularly post comments to your blogs? What was the most bizarre exchange you've ever kept with a reader? Is there any anonymous readers you would like to meet (or avoid) personally?
etc. Thanks for your attention --- Ronnie McIntyre
Hi Simon, sorry I didn't get the chance for a chat with you yesterday. I hope you enjoyed the game though not the two late goals obviously! I wish you well whatever happens in the future.
Regards,
Andy
Hi Ronnie,
i would say YES to starting a blog...why not. If you have something to say, say it.
Re comments from readers, well its nice to get some as it means someone is reading my blog! Its impossible to form real interaction with mostly anonymous people, so I try and answer their queries or give my viewpoint and then leave it at that. I'm way too busy to meet any of my anonymous readers :-)

There are 35 comments (i 've counted them all) to your blog on just this page and you still ask yourself whether you have a readership? Are you a blasé, a snob or what!?!?? --- Erin
Hi Erin,
I said it with my tongue in my cheek....I know that a few people read my blog and that makes me determined to keep it going with things that I find interesting. Now what I find interesting and what a reader will find interesting of course, may be very different, hence my comment about my readership. I don't know whether they are people who just come here once or come here regularly. I've been told that people who comment are believed to equate to just 1 or 2% of any readership. If that's the case, then maybe my blog does have a few regular readers. And I hope they remain. I have a lot of articles in-waiting that I need to post but its always a juggling act and finding time with so much to do and see here. I often end up adding blog posts around midnight!
Blase and/or a snob - I certainly hope not. Self-deprecating I can be, but then I'm British and that's a national trait (not a personal self-esteem problem) :-)
Andy
Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
