Double take
Just as I was posting the group shots below, Jasmine from Bayon Tours, one of my fellow Mekong Discovery Trail fam trip colleagues, sent me three of her photos that corresponded exactly to the scenes in my photos - what a remarkable coincidence. With her permission I have posted her pictures here too. I loved the look on the young girls faces as they saw themselves on my digital camera. They were such an adorable bunch.
All aboard, as we get ready for our boat trip to the Lao border area. I'm in the center and Jasmine is directly behind me. All photos courtesy of Jasmine.

Hi, Andy
Nice pictures, I guess, kids have a good time when you're around! This is off-topic, but I wd like to ask you, pls, recommend me the best (to yr knowledge) guidebook on Khmer temples located in Thailand. Thank you very much, and good luck in your travels. -
Anna Morley
Hi Anna,
the people and especially the children of Cambodia are one of its greatest treasures, without a doubt. The welcome and wonderful interactions I've enjoyed all over the country has fueled my passion for all things Cambodian for many many years.
The Michael Freeman book on Khmer Temples in Thailand and Laos (River Books 1996) is the best guidebook that can be easily carried around, in my opinion. Its been out a while now but the temples don't move do they!
See this webpage:

I'm jealous if you do go and visit them as they have been on my to-do list for many years.
Regards,
Andy
Dear Andy,
thanks a lot for the tips. I'll start saving some to buy Freeman's book, which is quite expensive - $399 and a used one (!), was the cheapest offer I've found on the net!!! I've checked the webpage you appointed me, and much to my astonishment found you're married - I don't know why, but always thought you were single, as befits a temple-hunter and adventurer like you!!! All the best, Anna
Anna,
wow that price for the book is madness - you gotta keep looking and try some 2nd hand book shops. Its got to be available at a cost of a few dollars if you can track it down. Damn it, I'll send you my copy (on loan) than let you pay that much....well, that's a little hasty Andy, let me rethink that!
At the time of the webpage I was married (we never did make that trip to Isaan) though when I came to live in Cambodia a couple of years ago, my old life in the UK came to a halt.
Andy
