Percy McLeod (left) and Ossie Samms were the driving force behind the Natural-Ites since the beginning.

The Natural-Ites started life in Nottingham, England in late 1982 and their music became known across the length and breadth of the reggae fraternity for its warmth and freshness throughout the Eighties. With the release of their first album in 1985, they quickly became well-respected throughout Britain and beyond and went onto release two more albums and a handful of classic singles before finally calling it a day in 1990. Whilst reggae fans mourned the passing of the band, singer-songwriter Ossie Gad continued to perform the band's classic numbers alongside his own material and briefly reformed the Natural-Ites alongwith his partner Percy McLeod with plans to record and tour in 2001. Despite some positive vibes that a new album was due out it never materialised. Instead Percy Dread McLeod has been in the studio and is ready to release his first solo album in late 2005.

THE NATURAL-ITES LYRICS

Picture On The Wall

They have a picture of his majesty Rasta ( Yes iyah , Jah Live! )
and they have a picture of his majesty Dread ( Yes iyah , Jah is within I ! )
and they have a picture of his majesty Ras Is ( Yes-I ! )
In my house there's a picture on the wall, Rastafari sit upon his throne
In my house there's a picture on the wall, Rastafari sit upon his throne

He sit upon the seat of judgement (true, true)
With the red, gold and green wrapped around him, oh yeah
He sit upon the seat of justice (true, true)
Defending the poor and the weak and the fatherless
In my house there's a picture on the wall, Rastafari sit upon his throne
In my house there's a picture on the wall, Rastafari sit upon his throne

Jah ruleth all nations 'pon the earth, oh yeah (true, true)
The root of David, light of this world , oh yeah
His eyes as red as fire, my picture ain't no liar (true, true)
Beca' the whole world see and know
Rasta live for-I-ver more
In my house there's a picture on the wall, Rastafari sit upon his throne
In my house there's a picture on the wall, Rastafari sit upon his throne

Rasta live, Rasta live, Rasta live for-I-ver more

Lion Inna Jungle

Oh, Babylon, you shall be my prey
And if you don't mind sharp, I'll slaughter you this day
However big you may be, we will not fear
The eagle and the bear want you all to hear

We a lion inna yuh jungle
We a lion inna yuh jungle

Ras Tafari gives I confidence
I say to blow you away with one mighty roar
Ras Tafari gives I confidence
I say to blow you away with one mighty roar, hear dis:

We a lion inna yuh jungle
We a lion inna yuh jungle
We a lion inna yuh jungle
We a lion inna yuh jungle

Babylon you must feed the poor
I tell you dem a go

Love and Understanding

Oh yeah, na na na na, oh

Oh gimme the feelings, gimme the vibes that can make things right
You know that little bit of love and understanding, you've got inside
Oh gimme the feelings, gimme the vibes that can make things right
You know that little bit of love and understanding, we've got inside

'Cause love can make you feel happy, love can make you feel blue
Someone now said it's alright, our love is here to push us through
Hold on, hold on, hold on strong, now
Hold on, hold on, hold on and it's so:

If you're feeling all wrapped up in the toils of life
Nuh bother worry yourself or hurry yourself, that can't make things right
Rome was never built in one day
Patience is a virtue, they say
That little bit of love and understanding might make it right

Oh gimme the feeling, gimme the vibe that can make it right
You know that little bit of love and understanding, you've got inside
Oh gimme the feelings, gimme the vibes that can make it right
You know that little bit of love and understanding, we've got inside

A brethren make his passage yesterday
He's all run up, he's gone now on his way
While since you've got no place of our own to stay
I guess it's just another problem of the day,

So you've got to give a little love and understanding, oh
Just give a little love, be less demanding, oh
Just give a little love and understanding, oh
Just give a little love, be less demanding, oh

Oh gimme the feelings, gimme the vibes that can make things right
You know that little bit of love and understanding, you've got inside
Oh gimme the feelings, gimme the vibes that can make things right
You know that little bit of love and understanding, we've got inside
Inside

So many brothers who have tried to pave the better ways
They work so hard, they work it harder ev'ry day
With this world wide frustration,
Babylon system on ev'ry nation
World wide frustration, woe

Oh gimme the feeling, gimme the vibe, gimme the feeling
Oh gimme the feeling, gimme the vibes, gimme the feeling
Oh gimme the feeling, gimme the vibe, gimme the feeling
Of that little bit of love and understanding, we've got inside
Inside, oh, got inside, oh , Jah liveth inside, there's love inide
